1. What is self-expression?

When courting, a male peacock will spread his feathers to show the opposite sex how good he is and that he is better than other male peacocks.

When a gorilla encounters an "enemy" that poses a threat to it, it will roar, pound its chest muscles, show off its muscles, and express its strength, in this way forcing and threatening the "enemy" to retreat.

. . . . . .

We humans are the same. We face different people every day and express different "I"s.

To express yourself is to express who you are to others.

Your thoughts, your attitude, your character, your abilities, your status, your wealth... these together make up "what kind of person you are".

We express ourselves to different people every day. In work and life, self-expression is everywhere.

This is the reality. We are always expressing ourselves to others consciously or unconsciously.

2. Express yourself and drive communication

Human beings are social beings. No one can live independently of everyone else. Therefore, we have to express ourselves to others every day. Work needs, emotional needs, social needs... We need to let others understand, recognize, trust, and support what we say and do. We need to constantly let people we know and don't know understand what kind of person "I" am from different perspectives.

Showing off, seeking recognition, relieving loneliness... these are all external manifestations of expressing oneself.

This is the reality. We are always expressing ourselves to others consciously or unconsciously.

Whether we realize it or not.

Therefore, expressing oneself becomes a natural and powerful driving force for communication.

3. Expression

Who are you? Or, what do others think you are?

The answer to this question often does not depend on what kind of person you are, but on your expression. So whether in life or at work, we are always consciously or unconsciously shaping our own expression, and even in different occasions, or in front of different people and groups, playing different roles and shaping different expressions.

The expression aspect lets others know what kind of person you are, what you can do, what resources you have, your ideas, your attitude...

The expressive aspect can be what you say, what you have done, your image, your works, your resume, your social pages, your reputation among your friends...

When we post on Weibo or Moments, we are consciously or unconsciously shaping our own expression surface. In other words, your Weibo is your expression surface, your WeChat public account is your expression surface, your blog is your expression surface, and your WeChat Moments is also your expression surface. . .

Therefore, many times, when we post on Weibo or Moments, we don’t consider what we want to post, but what we want others to see.

Therefore, if you want your users to spread your product through social networks such as Weibo, WeChat, Facebook, and Twitter, you need to understand that the motivation for your users to share and spread the word often does not depend on the person sharing, but on the person being shared with. In other words, what the person sharing wants the person being shared with to see and what image he wants to establish in the person being shared with determines whether this person will share.

Many, many people have made friends, improved their network, expanded their user base, increased their orders, made money, and even built their own careers through these expressions.

4. Typical Cases

Beauty Camera

From beauty camera products to short video products such as Kuaishou and Douyin, they all take advantage of the concept of "self-expression", leading to a large number of users using them and posting and spreading the photos they take. The tools used to create these photos and short videos are also spread as users "express themselves" everywhere.
